St. Michael the Archangel in Battle Retablo

In this St. Michael the Archangel retablo, we are asked to pause and contemplate the battle between what it means to be in the world and not of it. This familiar Catholic image demonstrates faith within the fragmented world we must live in couragerously. St. Michael pray for us ! Composed of terra cotta relief, layered and atmospheric use of glazes , and found and embedded forms of mosaic in its rustic framing. Since each ceramic retablo is made by hand, each retablo will have variations in color, texture, and fine line details.

St. Raphael with Shells Retablo

In this terra cotta retablo, St Raphael has been carved in clay to show his role as the “angel of healing” and is considered the protector of travelers, the blind, and is often invoked for happy meetings; his role is primarily centered around bringing healing and restoration to those in need, as depicted in the Book of Tobit where he guides and assists Tobias on his journey, ultimately curing his father’s blindness.Often depicted with a staff and sometimes a fish, representing the fish gall used to cure Tobias’ father’s blindness. Gold finishes highlight the staff and role given by God to assist his people in healing. Shells are added to convey the importance of baptism at work. Variations will occur by order as each one prayerfully made to resemble the original retablo, but will vary slightly by color and line design.

Jesus of Mercy Retablo is a devotional artwork in terra cotta clay, specifically a retablo, that depicts Jesus in the image of the Divine Mercy. This image is based on a vision of Jesus revealed to Saint Faustina Kowalska, and it emphasizes God’s love, forgiveness, and compassion. The retablo serves as a focal point for prayer and reflection on God’s mercy. It is glazed very carefully to show the depth of his love and the rays of mercy still in a primitive humble manner embellished with gold and the words ” Jesus I trust in You ” A mosiac edge of stones surround him ; this elemenet can be altered to suite your designs. She prayed long and hard for the conversion of St. Augustine, her little lost sheep. This retablo was designed for a hunting lodge but yours can be tailored specifically as she relates to your devotion to her. Made from ceramic relief printing by hand and with a variety of glazes and mosaic methods housed in a rustic frame. Agnus Dei Retablo

In the Agnus Dei retablo, Jesus is represented as the lamb of God. It is based on the saying of John the Baptist: “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). The sacrifice of lambs in the Old Testament was a foreshadowing and symbolism pointing to Jesus as the ultimate sacrificial lamb. He was the only true Lamb of God because his sacrifice provided eternal redemption and forgiveness for all who believe in Him. This work of art is meant to convey the heavenly feast on earth as it is in heaven. Rich colors and gold accents are used to demonstrate this aspect as well as surrounding angels. Each retablo is made from scratch and made to order (4 -6 weeks). Slight variations will occur with line etching, color combinations, and small details.
